Senior Accountant

We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team in Schaumburg, IL. The Senior Accountant will perform key functions within the accounting team and will have broad general exposure to accounting segments and functions. Working under the direction of the Controller and CFO, you will prepare and record journal entries, prepare month-end reconciliations and analysis and assist in data validation for special projects and significant accounting models. The individual will be responsible for multiple aspects of general ledger accounting and work with a talented, driven team in a fast-paced agency setting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare timely and accurate account reconciliations, identifies and resolves issues for a variety of general ledger accounts
  • Review general ledger (GL) activity to ensure all activity is properly recorded and reflected in the GL.
  • Complete all monthly accounting tasks timely and accurately, in accordance with the month-end closing calendar
  • Work with external accounting firm on special projects or reviews and answer any questions
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance and reconciliation of corporate bank accounts
  • Manages the recording and reconciliation of revenue and receivables
  • Records and processes intercompany expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed asset depreciation, and recording of adjusting or reclassification journal entries as necessary
  • Post monthly journal entries including payroll, prepaids, accruals and provide supporting schedules for year-end consolidated financial statements
  • Automate monthly shared expense allocation; agrees intercompany balances and transactions on a monthly basis
  • Proposes periodic cash vs. noncash settlement for intercompany balances
  • Supports in-house tax matters and timely filing and payment of TPT sales tax for each entity
  • Identify process and systems related opportunities within the general ledger accounting function and internal controls and leads implementing changes to drive scalability, efficiency and productivity
  • Assist with year-end, annual budget process and various Accounting/Finance projects
  • Effectively performs job within the ERP environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is required
  • 2-4 years in an Accounting role is required
  • Intermediate Excel experience
  • Demonstrated ability to support a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, growing, dynamic environment
  • Solid understanding of deliverables, and the ability to take responsibility
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of integrity and the ability to protect confidential information
  • Advantage Software expense is a plus
